Sophomore Year! |
It's been a long, long (Austin and Winston) long time since I last posted a blog entry. A lot of things happened since school started and I wanted to catch up by writing some of the highlights (or at least the things I can remember) down.
Let me start with my current, official schedule and what it's like in the class:
A.) Pre-Calculus w/ Holmes: Okay, so I've never really been a fan of A Period (since I sleep late and wake early), but Pre-Cal class isn't bad so far. I'm understanding mostly everything so far...but I know we'll get to the harder stuff soon. I have class with some band kids (Lorena, YinYin, Brian Castro, William Burne, and etc.). Generally, the class is good. I know most the people there and you can leave early when the lecture's done. :)
1.) Spanish 3 w/ Botello: Transitioning from the teachings of Distefano was such a difference: I'm actually learning spanish again. I can't really say much about this class. Everything follows an agenda and it's pretty much spanish practice everyday. The thing I don't like about the class is the following: -where I sit: I'm all the way to the left. There's a mirror there and it feels awkward. I can barely see the board because the projector just about covers it. Plus, I'm super far away from the people I know more. -the guy who sits behind me and his obnoxious habit of "twitching his leg": Okay, so I don't know what it's called exactly, but I'm pretty sure you guys know what I mean (when you continuously bounce your whole leg really quickly without lifting it) Anyway, this asian kid behind me who I don't know always does that! I know this because I can feel it! He shakes the whole area around him, making my desk move around. Sometimes when I'm doing my work, my desk starts moving and oh my world, it is so annoying! >_<
2.) AP Art: Probably my most "chill" class. I honestly like it in there. I'm not doing school work; I'm sitting down and just drawing. Last year I felt like I had no time to do any drawing, but it feels good that there's a specific time of my everyday aside for the arts this year. There are only 3 people in AP Art this year. (The class is filled though because we're mixed in with the Adv. Art kids too.) Bianca and Micheal are seniors and we talk sometimes. We're currently working on a radial circle design. I finished mine recently and need to start figuring out what to do next.
3.) World history Adv. w/ Niccolls: I originally had Mr.Rees but my counselor ifnally responded to my week old request and transferred me out. (There was no real difference between the two classes to be honest. The only thing that truely made me want to move was that Mr.Rees taught regular world histroy and not Advanced.) Mr. Niccolls is a very tall, monotone, and odd kind of guy. I can't really say much right now because I just started in his class, but form the looks of things, it seems this class doesn't require much work - we get "free time" after lectures almost everytime!
4.) Symphonic Band w/ Mr.R: It's definetly a change from Concert Band, but I don't feel too much of a change. It just feels like playing with the marching band again, but on different songs and not as "sweaty". The class is good, I mean, it is band, right? :) I sit next to Camellia and Marc and we mostly play 3rd parts to all the songs. I currently love Bolero and the Prairie Song. I sit in front of Bryan too and being the only oboe, it's easy to distinguish him. Which is good, because he plays so well! (so intimidating! >_<) Also, Marc and I have this game going on that Mr. R will give us a lecture of any length, at least once every day. :D We'll see if this is true or not. (Oh yeah, I'm nervous abut those individual sessions with Mr.R. I 'm very weak with scales. No, I'm weak with music in general. Eek!)
5.) English 2 Adv. w/ Luerson: DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED!!! Ugh. Mrs. Luerson is the most narrow-minded critic I've ever met. She has this weird accent where she emphasizes the "ass" in "class" (not trying to swear here people!) and the "all" in "call". Plus, she has these really saggy arms that wiggle when she writes on the board. (shudders.) But those are little things I can live with. It's her personality I don't like. I love english very much, but she is just so.....UGH! She thinks we're a dumb bunch of kids who don't know anything about the world around us and thinks we're not "thinking enough", when she's really just too narrow minded. In addition to her, I have to deal with this (excuse my choice of words for I don't know his name yet) black kid that sits right next to me. It all started when I gave him a piece of paper. I guess he thought it was invatation to chat, because he talks to me all the time. Let me list some things he's said/asked me this past few days or so: - What's the Declaration of Independence? That's where they freed the slaves right? - How do you spell "patient"? - What's health care? - Are you Chinese or Japanese? - Is he Chinese or Japanese? - Can you write the homework down for me? (which I did, because what do I say? No? I don't mind it so much that he's asking because it's true Mrs. Luerson has ugly handwriting, but it kills me that he never ever ever ever ever does them!!!) - What are we suppose to do?
And several times a day, he'd sing some verse of some rap song. And yes, he says the "n" word a couple of times.
6.) Ap Biology w/ Mrs.MacDonald: phew. 6th period finally! I come to 6th period to cool down. I'm usually so annoyed and frustrated from English that I'm actually welcoming Mrs.M's monotone lectures with open arms. Notes take forever but I'm managing so far. I don't like labs because I have volleyball practice afterschool and cannot go OT to finish the labs. Besides that, AP Bio is...managable, but time consuming. I asked Austin Long what the AP test was like and I'm freaked out. I'm super super super unexcited for May to come. D:
Ok, that was a really lond description. Because of which, I'll continue later. Maybe in another blog or another day. We'll see. But for now:
Adieu. ;)

I can't emphasize how lucky your are to NOT have this spanish teacher call Mrs.Carraro
AP Art class seems to be like my AP computer class, we do nothing there but play Halo and other non-education stuff ;]

Wow Schwanka, you responded to every class I mentioned ^o^ A gold star for you! Hehe.
I'm pretty sure you have a lot to say about AP Bio, but just mentioning it would probably put you to sleep. :)

Aw man, it's because of my big mouth that Mr. R lectured us yesterday. >_<
Also, for some reason, I started reading the AP Bio book AFTER I took the test. xD

Lol. I'm ecstatic about being in the intro :D
Don't worry about the AP Bio test, it's easy-peasy. And Mr. R gets worse later in the year. Trust me. D:
P.S. You spelled Bryan Castro's name wrong. Sorry. :D

About Me: I am an odd person. I'll admit it because I can't really figure out who I am exactly. I think that's what life is partially about: figuring out who you really are, that, and happiness. I don't think many do find out who they really are in the end, but make a marvelous journey trying. I think that's beautiful. Frankly, I don't really want to find that one word or thing that would describe me perfectly. I think I'll just sit along with the ride and let everything just roll as it goes. I'm a very spontaneous person.
